This is a great little device for working out your arms. Once you get it going, you can feel it work a lot of different muscles. It's easy to add into your workout routine, or even just pick up and play around with once and awhile. I'm using as a disc golfer to increase forearm strength and grip. The docking station arrived broken. This seems to be a common problem. It is a fairly simple device that connects a moving wheel to the batteries. The wheel sits on a metal tension plate. The plate is connected to the base by a plastic cylinder that is screwed down. This plastic cylinder had broken off in shipping. Rather than deal with the return over this cheap device, I simply shaved down the broken piece where the screw goes, and replaced the plastic cylinder with a metal washer. Works great now. The docking station is a nice little thing to have, but ultimately unnecessary. However, for the extra five dollars it costs in this bundle, it doesn't hurt to get it.
It becomes obvious in less than a minute after trying this device that, if you use it regularly it must strengthen your arms.. The way it "burns" your muscles, it has to! I would give it 5 stars, if it included the starter "string", but it doesn't. I thought it would. I hope the battery-powered starter gizmo never stops working, because I don't think I could ever start it without it. I also hope I never drop it, and break it, because I hope to keep using it daily. It's actually fun, even if it does make you laugh at yourself. When I use it, it reminds me of just how ambidextrous I am NOT. I'm pretty proud of how well I can keep it going, in both directions, with my right hand, but my left is weaker and very clumsy. I DO think it's getting better, though! I'm 63 years old, and have arthritis and carpal tunnel syndrome. I hope that this thing will help me to improve my grip and arm strength, and keep my hand and wrist joints flexible. I like my doctor, but I hope the next time she asks me to squeeze her hand, to test my grip strength, she yells "Ow!".Another reviewer said that holding your arm in different positions while you use it will exercise different arm muscles. If that's true, I think it would be a good idea. I'll have to look that up again, and try it. I think this device is a good buy.
Fun, good for you, and it GLOWS!! I purchased a Dyna-Flex Powerball from REI about a year ago. Love it, but lost the string, which I did not realize had a 'docking hook' on the side of the ball (for when it's not in use). They sent me a new one! Now I learn that you can buy a bunch of them... but now I also use that little loop, and haven't lost the string again. The Dyna-Flex ball is Great for bringing up strength in your arms and hands...You start up the gyroscope and once it gets going, it feels as if the thing is trying to jump out of your hands! It really fights against you, and you have to keep a hold of it (and switch hands, or directions if you can). It's fun, easy, and boy, you can tell it's working. I've been in a motorcycle accident, and broke a bunch of ribs - as soon as I can, I'm going to use this to help my arm and shoulder get back into shape. Plus, c'mon - you spin the thing and it lights up the dark! Who doesn't love a toy/exerciser that glows in the dark??? Neon, even! LOL
The gyro starts to spin off center on the docking station which stalls it completely, and I also have not been able to get the gyroscope working by hand using the instructions provided. Which makes it less desirable and the reason I didn't give it a 5. However, I have been able to get it running on the docking station (I found that once it was lined up, I had to hold it in place to keep it from being jostled off center). I've been using it daily for 3 days; I can REALLY feel my muscles working, I can slow it down and speed it back up again, and switch from hand to hand now to rest. I have not had to wear the brace I've been wearing for a YEAR on my right wrist as a result of this daily exercise. I can't think of what else to attribute this improvement to. So I recommend trying it if you have carpal tunnel, although check with your doctor first of course.
I had an older model that I wore out after 18 years... This has a different "name" but is the same product. I'm hoping to get 18 years out of this one as well. I used this to relieve the "Terry Thomas" syndrome in my wrist. Never had surgery to correct the issue this ball did the trick in fixing the pain issue.
If you looking to get in shape this is a great device but be warned this one does not light up like the other ones do so just let you know the other one I had which I did find does light up so if you wanted to light up make sure you check it before you buy it I was really disappointed in light up to be honest also there was no string at all so I have to use the base which really helped.
Originally bought as therapy tool, but coopted for it's exercise and fidget friendly benefits. (I have it on my desk at work, and everybody picks it up to give it a try). The starter is a necessity at first; without it the frustration level would simply be too high! Once you get the hang of it, it's very addictive - and you can really feel it in your arms!
Works great. Needed to strengthen my wrists for maneuvering my hand gun.
Starting in the late 1970's, MYDFXPro was the first to patent, manufacture, and supply gyroscopic exercisers to the U.S. This 30 year process began with the "Dynabee," however we eventually reconstructed the original into our top selling Strengthening System Gyro line, and Extreme Grip Simulators. Today, Powerball Gyro's such as the Sports Pro and Platinum have evolved into miracle medicine for Carpal Tunnel, Rehabilitation, and repetitive stress injuries.
